Brent -

One thing to check that can result in the symptoms you describe is a 
"dropped" needle.  Easy to check and fix.  Simply take off the air cleaner 
and lift the piston with a flat blade screwdriver.  Does the needle move up 
and down with the piston or does it stay seated blocking the jet?  If so, 
remove the piston, insert and tighten the needle and refit.  Don't forget to 
centerize and renew the oil in the dampener.
