Hey, folks, check this out...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2487565109

The seller says:

"This is a 1964 Series IV Alpine, with a extremely rare 5 speed
transmission. The transmission in this car was made in Italy and imported
solely to the U.K. for 1600 engine cars only. Englishman in the know would
order this option, especially if they were in to racing. Beats the hell out
of that pesky overdrive system."

OK, I've been around Alpines for a while now - owned mine for 20+ years and
used to have a Tigger too... but never heard of an 'Italian transmission' in
one! Have you? Was this really an option?
