Bill:

This is a common problem when the cars sit for long periods. Here is the 
solution from on who is no longer with us and one who is. Pushing it out 
and using lowor second and pumping the clutch pedal usually works too,

Further to the previous posts, the same thing happened to Shawn Strande's
series V this morning.  The infamous Smitty cured the problem thusly:

There was about a 75 foot level clear space behind the car.  After fully
warming up the engine to reduce the chance of stalling, he put it in reverse
and restarted the engine with the clutch pedal depressed and the car started
bucking backwards.  At about the 65 foot mark, just as he was reaching 
to turn
off the ignition, the clutch freed up.  I asked him what he would do if that
hadn't worked.  He said he'd do the same thing in first gear and at 
least get
it back to where it was.
