Again, what determines my class? Adjusted displacement and overall
HP/torque. If I can upgrade exhaust allowing tons more turbo flow, and
upgrade the intercooler (stock IC is 165 CFM, 60% efficiency, with a 3psi
pressure drop at 10psi) to a nice 90% efficient, 1050 cfm unit freely, and
replace the OEM filter with 1" opening to a 8" free flow K&N for $35, why
not the BOV? Its a flow related improvement which is already an open
modification, THAT is my core argument for the BOV upgrade (not addition)
becoming legal. Ive had so many people including dealer mechanics call my
BOV a wastegate. *chuckle* ESP is lucky the caught water/air intercoolers,
because a 35deg intake charge is good for about 45hp on the dyno because of
the absense of detonation..which leads to horribly retarded timing. A
100deg day gives me on the stock IC about a 195deg intake charge. A cooler,
ice, and some water with a 12v pump on a water/air IC is a killer setup.
(Yes, I agree that a water/air iced IC would not be fair)

I dont see an N/A powered car suffer a 80% power loss between
gears..again, if you are gonna class me by power and "motor" let me use what
I can on the stock turbo/boost levels as best I can. Lets just put
momentary 3/4" restrictor plates on everyones else's car for a few moments
outta every turn, and I think the idea of a BOV would be much clearer to
everyone.

Again, the upgrade is a volume upgrade to allow the system to
release excess pressure easier, keeping what RPM I have in the turbine in
place. Im not artificially spinning the turbo, im A) Keeping from destroying
it, B) trying to use what turbo I can into the next gear. its not a
performance gain, its flow-rate efficiency which so far is an open
modification all around. The BOV issue is out of ignorance (not stupidity
please..just a lack of knowledge).

        Yep..forgot that one.

Youd never know if anyone did, the FCD is useless below 12-14psi
(depending on weather) which isnt allowable anyway.

Perhaps a bad example, but still...it'd be fun to watch *heh*

If thats where Houston is..I may make an event there this year.

Its an 87, I was really annoyed that the SS MK4 'upgraded' to ESP.
I mean, if the MK4 is stock 320Hp, and you do all the free MODs, the car is
now approaching 350Hp and about 450lbs lighter than I am..and Im in a fair
class with this thing? (chuckle)

The MK4 is nothing more than a 'service pack' bug-fix for the MK3
:^)

        ---

Yeah, well, with two rally tiny turbos, the VR4/Stealth has barely
any turbo lag to speak of, but the AWD and AWS with some radical alignment
work is one heck of a fun car on the course. Ive been able to really
stretch the 70mph speed 'limit' on some of our regional courses a few times
with ease, how you work into the throttle in that car is radically different
than a 2WD car, and its tremendous weight just glues the outside of the car
to the earth.

A few locals on the list here have ridden in it on race tires..not
bad for a 4400lb sled.
