Subject: newbie questions

Hi,

I am looking to give autocross/Solo II a try. I've done a bit of
research on the web, but one I have only found the championship
schedules.

I live in The Washington, DC area. Can anyone point me in the
right direction to find non-championship, practice or novice-focused
events in the area?

Will I need to be an SCCA member to really begin participating?
What else should I do before I begin going to events?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you're willing to make the short drive up I-270 or I-95, you'll find
events in Frederick, MD and Ft Meade, MD. Visit this URL for details:

           http://members.aol.com/mwcscc/mw-ax.htm

Next event is June 13th at Ft Meade but I believe it's booked.
June 27th event in Frederick might have a few slots available.
Online registration is available and opens three weeks before each
event. You can also call the MWCSCC hotline at 202-726-2289 for more
details. All are welcome, stop on by.
