Ricer as it applies to cars now, maybe.....
But in the early 70's when the Japanese motorcycle industry
began producing milestone rides like the first 4cyl Honda 750,
the Suzuki "water buffalo", the Kaw 750 triple and the 900, etc....
They were very often referred to as "rice burners" by the Harley
crowd, and even by the Triumph/BSA/Norton Brit bike riders.

As the performance gap widened (before the European resurgence),
the moniker changed to "rice rocket".......

That was long before Asian import cars had anywhere near
a performance image....
