clarification

As I have now been reminded 57 times, sarcasm doesn't translate well in
e-mail.  I was *listing* the traditional arguments, not *making* them.  

My point was...
we can all go through the same arguments over and over and over again,
directly or indirectly laying blame on any of our favorite targets, but
I'm not sure how useful that is.  What does it change to blame the
driver/car/tires/course/safety steward/national office?  [Nothing.]  Who
was negligent here?  [No one, really.]  Will placing blame make anyone
feel better?  [Only if it helps you achieve a false sense of distance
from the accident.]  As Jean Kinser said after Peru, we all live lives in
which bad things happen.  Sadly, you can neither predict nor avoid all
the bad things in your life.  Experience comes as a result of mistakes.
