You've obviously never been to San Jose.
==================================
Nope, never been west of Phoenix. Haven't had the desire to yet.

I know that to produce electricity requires the burning of SOMEthing, but
I'm really curious to see just how much more or less efficient electric cars
than regular fuel burning cars. What really happens when you recharge your
car? Isn't something somewhere burning?

That and electric cars are just no damn fun at all to drive. No guts, no
handling (current models), no long distance capabilities to speak of. There
are of course the Hybrid gas/electric cars that use a small gas (or diesel,
yuck) engine to charge the batteries as it runs. They still have no guts
and are less fun to ride than a city bus.

Now motorcycles.................50+ mpg, fun, cool, lots of room for
individuality. Cons: nobody "sees" you in traffic, can't crank the stereo,
no Big Gulp cup holders, suck in the rain and snow, no trunk for groceries
(or nitrous bottles or subwoofers), only 1 passenger (maybe) but at least
they have to hug you tightly. ;^)

I have seen the new production Honda hybrid and it almost looks good. It
almost looks like a CRX but for the super stupid looking rear fender well
covers. Still gutless and according to the TV commercial it can (barely)
beat a VW Microbus in 0-60mph acceleration.
