Over here at Talladega, it depends mostly on where (how far from the
main road) you park more than anything else.

Our first time at the track, we found a really cool place to park near
the start-finish line, where our seats were.

Unfortunately, it took about 4 hours to get off the property, since we
were about as far as you can get from the entrances as possible without
being in the camping area. In fact, we waited in place after jumping in
line so long that I had to get out of the car and walk back to the men's
room. No problem, because the cars around me still hadn't moved an inch
in the 10-15 minutes the walk took.

BTW, that was for the Saturday Busch/IROC races, not the Cup race.

Last year, we parked much closer to the road. On Saturday, we got off
the property in about 45 minutes. Sunday still took about an hour and a
half, I believe.

This year, we'll arrive early enough to park in the first line near the
exit, and might make it home with only an hour drive to go the 12 miles
to the house. . . I hope.

Back when we lived near Watkins Glen, we eventually did the smart thing
and took the camper. That way it's only once in and once out for the
weekend, and you don't mind waiting for the crowd if you have a bed to
sleep in.

Down here, however, it's too darned hot without an AC unit on our tired,
old camper (or should I call it a "classic?), besides which we got rid
of the only car we had that was big enough to pull it.

Finally, there are no paved lots of any significant size at Talladega.
Lots of grass. . . and mud. It might be fun to autocross on the large
expanses of grass.
