I have left foot braked for many years and room in the footwell has not really
been a problem. I wear a size 12 and sometimes find the footwells are not
tall enough, but I doubt that is your problem. I have LF braked many a civic
without difficulty. It has certainly been proven that you do not have to LF
brake to become successfull, but I found it a big help in my driving.
As for angling the seat towards the center line being a problem/distraction,
no. I drive a mid-engined car (an X1/9) and most have the pedals offset
toward the centerline to clear the inner fender well. I always sit angled
toward the centerline to make it easier to LF brake in most cars, mid-engined
or not. Some require more than others and some not at all. In my car it is
quite pronounced. I never even thought if it was a problem or not, I just did
it. It was completely natural.

I have wanted to try out the whole left foot braking concept, but my large
size, coupled with the small footwell in my civic has not been condusive to
this. I am going to be spacing my steering wheel out, which should allow me
to move the seat back and get my knees out of the dash, and that will help. I
had a thought on relocating my seat though. Would there be any advantage to
mounting the seat at a slight angle, where I am aiming toward the center of
the car slightly. It seems to me that this would do a better job at aiming
each foot at it's appropriate pedal, like a go kart. It would make clutching
a bit more difficult, but that is rare compared to braking. For reference, my
setup is:

Kirkey Seat on I/O port Brackets
Momo 330mm steering wheel spaced out as far as need be.
Any thoughts? Am I just weird?
