Perhaps you are thinking of avoiding Parley's Canyon by going up I-15
to I-84, and taking that east. At Echo I-84 ends as it joins I-80. And
a few miles east of that junction it a point 1,000 miles from Forbes.
It is longer, maybe 40 miles, but the climb over the Wasatch Mountains
is much more gradual than I-80 east of Salt Lake. But you've still got
the Three Sisters, a series of long hills east of Evanston, Wyoming.
