Went to the Greater LA Auto Show on Tuesday. Lots better than the one
in SF. Neat show cars like the return of the El Camino pickup
(Chevrolet SS-R). Some new cars that could turn out to be good
autocrossers:
Nissan - Sentra A SE-R: 180 HP 2.5 4cyl., limited slip
New Z (wow!!) no info yet on drive train or price
Acura - GS-X: 200HP Integra replacement
Mercedes - C Class Coupe: 190 HP Kompressor, 200 lb-ft, 6 speed,
rear drive, way under 30K.
BMW - M3 Coupe and Convertible
M Coupe and Roadster: 315 HP M3 motor
Lexus - IS 300 with a 5 speed manual
Honda - S2000 in Yellow (always a faster color)
Porsche - Carrera GT (the next IPO car)
The car type of the show seemed to be station wagon: Mazda Protege,
Lexus IS300, VW Jetta, Ausi S4. New tow vehicles: Chevrolet Avalanche,
Cadillac Escalade PU, Lincoln Blackwood.
