National Tour event newbie questions

Hi everybody,

I'm all signed up for the National Tour event. I was wondering: should I
drive to Atwater on Friday afternoon, or really early Saturday? (I'm in San
Jose so it's a couple hours at most.) That is, do I have to be at the
registration & tech on Friday, or can I do the late check-in and tech first
thing Saturday?

Also, I checked off "Rookie" on my entry form. What does this do (other than
putting "[N]" next to my name in the entry list)?
