Sounds like you must have had a CB to coordinate this. It's tough even when
everyone wants to pass, to all be on the same page so effectively! Also, not
enough other traffic to foul things up.
I was once tempted to try blocking on someone who had been extremely bogus,
but as it was a tour bus I didn't figure I had enough vehicle to pull it
off....
Radios = great things. This weekend, heard on the traffic news (obligatory on
topic item) on the way to the Sacramento Chapter event at Stockton Saturday
morning that I580 East at the Pass was blocked by a crossover wreck :-( and
that a helicopter was on its way. Local knowledge of the old Altamont Pass
road enabled probably 45 minutes of time savings once I knew how bad it was up
there. Once I was through, I even called KCBS and told them about the detour,
but I don't think they mentioned it on the air.
