Is your hood level with the top of the fender?  Perhaps it is only 
interfering because the hood is too low.  I have KYBs and have not experienced 
that 
problem, but also have the "hood stops" to keep the hood aligned horizontally.  
(Or maybe your hood and fenders are just aligned lower relative to the shock 
towers.)
