They both work. The bearing style can reduce friction on the input shaft
during shifts making shifting easier at High rpm. The downfall is if the
cheap (most are made in china) little roller bearing fails,  The slop will
take out your trans. I have a bearing in my 6 speed but bushings worked for
many years.
