So Roger, are you interested in vintage racing as well ????
I am on the verge of buying a 1963 Spridet which is is fairly
good condition but needs to be totally stripped an put back
together (ie there is no major rust) but the previous owner
really did not look after it. He currently runs a Rover 2000
as his daily transport and lost interest in the Spridget.
(The owner is my regular navigator on rallies, so I know some
of the history of the car)

I really want to get a MGB and built a replica of the works cars
of the early/mid sixties, but this Spridget is hard to pass up.
My current Midget leads a hard life on most of the rallies that
I do and from reading several books, the MGB was a much tougher
car for endurance rallies.

(BTW - the books MG Competition Department, is an excellent source
of information for working correct details and specs)

I competed in 3 track events at Pocono this year, and I would like
to compete again next year. I am looking at this car, as a project
for the winter (I have finished the Scimitar and the other Midget -
so what else is there to do over the winter months !!!!) Also I think
I have convinced the wife that I really NEED 3 cars !

Do you know what the rules are for vintage racing ? i am specifically looking at
VSCCA, as they are the only ones I know that run in the North-East.
I bought a couple of books on vinatge racing, and have tried to call the
VSCCA, but am still waiting for an answer form them.
I went to couple of VSCCA events this year to have a look, and I am
was surprised by the type of cars that turned up. I expected to see MGB's
Bugeyes, Triumphs (TR3-4), Alpines but instead only saw Jags (mk II (?)),
Lotus 7, Astons, Elvas, Ginettas. Is the VSCCA, one of those rich boys
clubs, who turn their noses up at "normal" cars ??? I may be wrong but
that is the inpression I got.

If you are thinking of also running a Spridget, I would be interested
to know what mods you are going to be making.

At the moment, I have not decided what state of tune I want to take the
car and what suspension mods are legal.

Come Saturday I shall be again competing in the Sunsetter rally in PA
I think it is about 250 miles and most of that is on dirt. Then at the
end of the month is the Jersey bounce. Another tough off-road rally,
of about 275 miles through the woods of southern NJ. I hope I have
better luck this year, last year I blew the engine 80 from the finish.
Such is life !!!!!!

Gerry
