Did any of the early Triumphs use whitworth nuts and bolts? I suspect
TR-3's might; how about TR-4's? Next question: I know that 1/4-20
whitworth bolt threads have a different cut than current standard fasteners
(~sinusoidal and slightly different angles). However, will a standard
1/4-20 screw fit into a place where a whitworth 1/4-20 screw was meant to
go?

Why? I'm curious and thinking of putting together an article for
our local Triumph newsletter. See, I just went to Home Depot and discovered
they had LOTS of what turn out to be really high quality fasteners and, well,
one thing led to another and now I'm curious... Also, does anyone have any
good references on nuts, bolts, screws, etc? I've already checked out Mark's
Handbook for Mech E's and I've seen the article in Grassroots motorsports
(they stole my idea :-( Anyone else? Thanks!
