All I know about the Range-Rover replacement (3 year old knowledge!!) is this;
its big!!, it'll have a V8 engine (the venerable Buick block yet again!) with
the Lucas GEMS 8 engine management system - transmission will supplied by ZF
with electronics by Bosch. I understand that there is provision for the ECUs
scattered around the vehicle to communicate via a CAN bus but I don't know
what messages (if any) will be passed. I have seen simulator vehicles at
Gaydon but I've never driven one - incidentally the one's I saw were all left
hand drive and painted matt olive green with "DMC" on the bonnet and could
easily pass as a large American military vehicle!
Incidentally, they are being made just down the road from you in Solihull so
if you spend long enough outside the factory gates you might catch a glimpse
of one :).
