i spent last weekend at the annual autoclassic restoration vintage and
collectable car auction in north vancouver b.c. canada. some of the notable
buys of the day were a 55 mga went for 7750.00 ,a mgtf for 14500.00, and a
whole bunch of big healey for 18-25 000. the most impressive car there by far
was a 1932 rolls royce woody wagon finnish completeley in wood and leather the
thing that i dont understand is why this car never sold???? there was a reserve
on the vehicle but the owner wanted no more than high 20000 for her. this car
was unbeleivable everything was in great shape all the wood panels on the
outside, inside and under the hood. the other car there that really had
character was the 1950 bentley rolls open wheel roadster. very classic and i
think the bidding got as high as 65000 but it never sold . another vehicle of
intrest was the 1981 renault 5 turbo a really impressive factory rally car with
so much power it was bursting at the seams. the bidding got to 23000 and never
sold. i think the owner of the car wanted in the neighbourhood of 35-40 000 for
the car. although it is rare to see one in north america it is definiteley not
worth that much coin.there was also a dtype jaguar with complete race history
and a list of notible drivers that had taken her to victory lane in her full
race dressings. some of the cars that did sell includes several ferrari 250,
ferrari dino, bugeye sprite, ferrari 348, porsche 356, porsche 2000 and several
mercedes old and new.
