Bob,
You can do it. Have you considered using your doors on the new
body shell and patching the parking lamp holes? Modifying a new
shell might still be less expensive than rebuilding an old one.
Just a thought. You might ask Roger Garnett if that would work.

Someone else mentioned joining the local MG club. There is one in
Albany, but they're not very active. They're good folks though.
At least one of them is in this list, Gene Myszkowski, ejm03%albnydh2.
bitnet@uacsc2.albany.edu You might want to talk to him as well

Another thing you might consider is contacting one of the best
restoration shops in the northeast, Kim's Import Motors in Amsterdam.
Kim Graff, the owner is very knowledgable and helpful. He doesn't
mind giving advice, unlike some shop owners I've encountered.

Lastly, The other British car club in Albany, Adirondack Triumph Ass'n
accepts membership of all British car owners. (Not just Triumphs).
We have lots of MG owners in ATA who would be very willing to lend
a hand or encouraging word.

I'll post an address for the MG club as soon as I can dig it out
of the mess on my desk.
ATA's address is :

Adirondack Triumph Association
P. O. Box 2207
Empire Station
Albany, NY 12220

Good luck and keep a good thought.

Rik
