Hay,

You think you got trouble!? I have a TR-250 with a vacuum advance
AND retard connected through a vacuum switch on the carb linkage. On top
of that, I had to replace the
carbs and the cheapest carbs I could find where '76 TR-6 with lots of
vacuum ports.
After hooking two vacuum guages up (one to the manifold and one to
the carb) I
drove around for a while. The carb had greatest vacuum during
acceleration, the manifold
during deceleration. I tried hooking the carb to the advance and the
manifold to the retard.
That failed! Now I just have the advance to the carb. It goes like hell,
and makes lots of
neat noises when I decelerate.
Since I don't have a good set of origional carbs I'm experimenting
with Nisson
Datson 240 Z SU carbs. The later model carbs (the big ones with more ports
than the '76 TR-6) will bolt on. I'm going to try them as soon as I make
the linkage.
The next project might be a Tri-Carb setup. I found a guy who
makes the manifolds for three ZS 175Cds. I would rather use SU carbs (I
have the TR-250 power
bulge in the hood to fit the taller carbs). I'm thinking about the
earlier 240 Z SU copies. I was told that it was
hard to over carberate using SU carbs by thier nature. The Datson SU carbs
sit horizontal
same as the ZS carbs. I found most real SU carbs are tilted.
I have read a lot of good stuff on multiple carbs here. Please
send any info on this subject.
        Merry Christmas

                                                Brian
