Ignition wire myth?

My '75 and '68 MGB's both have Lucas sports coils and bumble bee ignition
wire.  I like this set-up:  it looks good, and seems to have an edge 
over stock.  (Even if the stereo and ham-radio guys avoid my car like the 
plague!)  Anyway, we have discussed doing this set-up on Biscuit, the
'79 Midget.  Biscuit, however, still has the Lucas electronic igintion
system, and I've been told copper ignition wire will damage electronic
ignition systems.  Is this just a shade-tree myth?  Hey, I'm a computer
electronics engineering student.  I don't know 'nuthin about anything over
5 volts.  :)
