Bob Grossman, who's been giving me lot's of help with my Daimler, is
looking for an Austin-Healey Sprite. As you can see from his note
below, he's got a pretty good idea of what he's looking for.

If anyone knows of a good one for sale, please respond to him.

              NEEDED: A-H SPRITE MK1 OR MK4.
              ------------------------------

Acceptable cars will be of higher quality than average, complete:

- MK1's must have both side curtains, top bows good head lamp buckets,
headlamp surrounds, grille, front and rear bumpers.

- MK4's need top bows. Paint condition is not important. Condition of
the top, if any, is not important as is the condition of the side
  curtain plexiglass.

Absence of rust and accidental damage is a high priority:

 - There must be NO accidental damage beyond >>minor<< dents.

 - front to rear torque boxes (frame rails) will be smooth and free of
dents, crimps, folds, crushes or rust through.

 - Sills may be replaced but door fit must be correct, no substandard
   repairs here.

 - Floors must be intact with no rumples, warps or rust holes of
consequence, prefer no undercoat finishes unless pictorial
documentation of substrate shows what is underneath.

 - Boot floors must be in good conditions, superficial rust OK, no rust
   through.

 - Rear ends of the prospects must not be filled with plastic.

 - Seams of the rear fender to main structure and the fender to center
section of the bonnet of the MK1 should not be filled. Minor rust
here is acceptable although rust through is not acceptable.

 - Prefer original seats although appropriate looking aftermarket units
are OK (no vinyl covered fiberglass 'racer' seats).

 - Carpets, kick panels, floormats and seat condition (other than seat
frame rust or rail degradation) is not terribly important.

 - Original gauges are desirable even if they don't work.

 - Severely worn front lower 'A'-arm mounting eyes are not acceptable.

 - Severe rust on the MK1 rear spring hangers or structure is not
   acceptable.

Mechanical condition of the engine is not important but must be
rebuildable (no freeze damage or holed blocks):

 - 1275 cc preferred .

 - Gearbox may be ribbed or smooth, no broken gears or cracked cases.

 - Rear end must be quiet although axle leaks are not cause for rejection

 - If MK1 has 1275 cc, brakes must be disk type.

 - Wheels may be either spoke or disk, no roached spline drives, prefer
   spoke wheel on the MK4.

 - Prefer running cars, but this is not a requirement.

 - Prefer 1200 mile radius of Denver.
