I am sorry to bomb the net with this, but I trashed the digest and
don't remember the date of it to recover it from archive. I am also
looking for a simple solution and at the same time I may even create
a new topic of general interest. I just realized, this may not be new
infact it probably has been widely netted already, in which case it
can act as a 'refresher' for those that have participated previously.

A week or two back "Byron" wrote asking for dry weight of the MGB, in
the text he refered to his V8 MGB, I don't remember his E-MAIL to send
this to, so here goes for general interest...

Byron,
Never mind the weight of your B, it goes fast enough!!! I am
interested in hearing about that V8 power unit you have in your B.
I am sure I have seen it a few times (you passed me in one of my MGB's
on Zanker a few times, It must be you, that plate BITEME, is a give
away). Now my curiosity with a V8 has finally got the better of me.
Is this a conversion you created, if so, what engine/tranny do you have
and how much trouble was it? How about smog?? When you have time, get n
in touch. I am real interested in a V8 conversion, so please SHARE
as much info as you feel willing to part with. I promise not to bug you
too much. Also if I do install a V8, I will let you pass me up at least
ONCE! Go on, get me hooked....I want a V8 too!!!! Get in touch.

As a general invitation, have any of you other SOLers installed a V8
power unit in an MGB? If so I would like to hear from you. I would
like to know what power unit to use (BUICK aliminum block?) which year
or years to look for etc. The aluminum block sounds like a good way to
go as suspension would probably handle the change as the weight would
be similar to the B series engine.(Yes No?). SMOG has to be a major
consideration here in California, since I would need to be able to
register the vehical in order to ENJOY! I have a rolling chassis, 76B
that would be the basis of this adventure!
However, cost would have to be reasonably low, say about $1K.
Suggestions? Ideas?...Yep even FLAMES if you must. Share with the net
or Email direct...Thank's in advance, John Bartholomew.
