This car sounds like it has alot more than 12,000 miles on it or it has been
neglected for a long time. With the amount of surface rust on the steering
and bumpers that you are explaining I would be very suspicous of how and
where this car storred. It sounds like it has been outside and close to the
ocean salt air. I would recomend that you get this car to a shop that knows
British Cars specificly and have them do a major inspection of the car BEFORE
you purchase it. If you are to pay a professional $100.00 to $200.00 to check
it out before they will know where to look for the problems and also have no
emotional intrest in purchasing the car.

We do this on a regular basis for customers and they usualy still end up
buying the car, but this way they know what they are getting into.
