Hi all,
When I obtained my project car, I heard it had a pushrod 2 liter,
which is guess is a 1600 with the 2000 crank and rods. I
have since learned that it was built by K&S in San Diego, and
is a "performance engine all the way" (previous owners words).
When I hot wired it and drove it, it did go like hell, and have
a rough idle. This was some months ago, before the restoration
began. Does anyone out there know anything about K&S
performance in San Diego. I would like to know just what kind of
guts are inside this engine. Engine number is R-108896. The
work was done about 5 years ago, and the car has been
driven maybe 500 miles since then.
Also, the local auto parts guy was able to cross reference and
eventually get a FRAM 3639 oil filter, which came in a faded box
covered with dust and listed SPL311 as the application. I put this
out for general info, as there was lots of oil filter talk a few days ago.
Its a cool looking tall filter, shaped like the picture in the tech manual.
Finally, have almost completed rebuilding my floorboards, covered
the pinholes with marine quality fiberglass mat and resin, and painted
with POR-15. I was really skeptical paying 29 bucks for a quart of this
black stuff, but it is really great. Hard as hell, yet flexible. And just a
small part of the quart did a whole side of the floorboards, one quart
should be enough for all floorboards and trunk.
