I'm just about to pull the engine on my '67 1600 and will have the body
repainted while it is out. I was wondering about the original color of
the block and engine compartment. What paint I have sanded down
indicates that the engine compartment and the inside of the trunk were
originally painted red, but the body was not. Is this a factory primer
color? My son pointed out to me that in some Asian countries, red is a
good luck color. Were all engine bays painted red, or can I let the
paint guy go nuts?
