Hi David,
The little screw is for grounding the black wire. I do not think
it wil run well without a good ground. You ahve already discovered this.
The black plastic cup is a dust shield and its not needed. Though it might
of prevented my mishap.
I rerouted the red and black pertronics wires along the outside of the
sensor and out the hole in the dist. As long as they are not loose this should
keep them out of trouble.
