List,

I have compiled all of the Southern California owners into a separate mail
group and if I want to send or discuss content with them that is related to
local functions, I use this rather than post to the group. I don't really
mind another list. I like the one we have right now and there doesn't seem
to be enough people to warrant another one for me to monitor as I belong to
several lists covering other interests that I have. I hope their list goes
well, but I hope it doesn't turn into a left coast Vs. right coast thing. We
are all in this together!

I'm having a not-good day already, so I might as well jump in with
my quite biased opinion:

> This is an announcement of a new Datsun Roadster list.

I read this announcement with disappointment. Is the current list
really too chatty for its members? Have we become a split, dysfunctional
family, each group going its own way? What happens when Alan forms
his own list and I never hear about the coming snows down under?
Or Hawaii and its 5 Roadsters forms its own group because they
don't care about us mainlanders.

For local events and news, I can see private lists. BADRoc has one.
It's used to discuss local runs, local happenings, local interest. But
any tech questions still go to the main list - the list with the body of
knowledge, expertise, experience. Now we're taking those invaluable
resources and slicing them up.

Oh well.... this list worked well for 8 years, in this electronic world
that's past forever, so I guess it's overdue for us to tear apart...

This isn't meant as a rip against someone wanting to set up their own
list. It's a much bigger issue than that.

Flame me locally, don't bother the list.
