Hi List,
Last sunday I autocrossed my 510 Station Wagon with
its original 170Kmile smoking 1600 engine. The
mods I have done are as follows: put in new front
ball joints, and new outer tie rod ends, tightened the
steering box, and had the front end shop set
up the front end with 1/16 toe and the camber
measured .5 negative. I installed a killer set
of front struts with tight springs and 280ZX
brakes, and a massive front roll bar
(thanks Mike Burke for used parts)
I lowered the rear 2 inches with a
25 dollar lowering kit. The course
was tight, which favored small slow
cars, so I did well. My times were
right in the pack, with me withen
2 seconds of a Miatia on autocross
tires and beating a Porche 944.
I have Shelby Viper 4 spoke
aluminum wheels, 5.5 inches wide
and 195X60 Sumitomo tires. TIres
are great!! I know other tires are
better, but these are so good for the
price. Wow did I have fun!
I really need a rear anti roll bar
as it sure plows when it
finally looses it......
$20 at Tidewater Sports Car
Club, good cheap fun!
Best Regards,
