Tom,

I had a friend who lived in my apartment building in NYC who rebuilt his
engine in his spare bedroom also. As well as his front end, rear axle and
numerous other parts.

Everytime I went into his apartment there was a smell of grease and oil :)

BTW, he owned an MGB and was restoring it.

Cool guy. He was the engineer in charge of running the Roosevelt Island
Tramway and used the tram repair area to store the car and pull the parts
and for some unknown reason rebuilt all the components in his apartment.
