Another part needed...???

All,
    I broke the little retaining clip/pin  that resides in water pump shaft of
my '69 2000.  Does anyone have a spare that they could donate/sell to me?  Is
it a necessary item?  Any ideas?  I couldn't find an exact match at my local
hardware store.  Thanks.
