Hey All,
I got quite a bit of email about whether to drive my car home or not.
Friendly jibes about Hiro becoming a "garage queen" aside, 1500 miles is a
long way to drive a roadster, even it is freshly restored.
So I will put it to you, my fellow list members. If, (and that is a very big
if) I decide to drive my car home, I would like to challenge as many people
to drive their cars to Shasta as possible. I am talking the WycROC, NOWROC,
AZROC and SoCalROC clubs. I will cut the East Coast clubs some slack as 3000
miles each way is a little more than I can ask of anyone.
This is not about who can drive the farthest and it certainly isn't about my
car. Any roadster on the road to me is the best roadster of all. If I am
going to flatten my ass I'd like to see everyone there at Shasta.
Also, I need to make a disclaimer. Ross has set Shasta as a goal for
delivering the car but has made it clear he cannot guarantee it will be done
in time nor am I going to hold him to it even if he says he can. Stuff
happens. I also will not put him under any pressure to finish the car in
time for the show.
If the car misses Shasta by one day because Ross needs the time to ensure
the car is the best it can be then that is the way it will be. I am hopeful
(and actually pretty confident) the car will be there.
So if I can drive the car 1500 miles to go to Shasta then I want as many
people to come as is possible.
