Penetrant dye checking is used for aluminum because magnafluxing will only work on ferrous metals. You can do the check yourself using a special kit. Clean the surface, apply the dye, wipe the dye from the surface, apply the developer and the dye in any cracks will show. I haven't done this in a long time and do not remember where I bought the kit - but it does work well.
