Daniel,
up to eng.#040000, the R16 had SAE threads and a 3 bearing crank.
Post eng. #040001, the engine wore METRIC threads and the 5 bearing
crank.
>From what I can tell the heads on both R16 variants are cast iron.

I have a 65.5 1600 engine for sale and someone asked me a highly
technical question
that I do not know the answer to.

Does the engine have three or five main bearing crankshaft and
castiron or alloy
head?

I am guessing 5 main and cast iron.

Cheers,
Daniel @ NOWROC
