Well car is finally on the road (kind of). Car seems to run fine. Revs
smoothly, drives decently. Problem are hills. Any kind of grade over 2-3%
car begins to die. Lack of power (not electrical, but "motor" power) as car
begins to go up slight slope. Not sure, but car acts like it may be getting
starved of fuel. If I pull car off of road, car recovers and drives fine down
hill and on flats. It's just on hills that it wants to die.
Car: 1970 2000 with most of everything rebuilt. Solex's. I have the Solex's
set up so that little "shaft" that is on the bottom of the carbs is set to the
hole is the leanest fuel setting. If you have Solex's you know what I mean.
There are three holes in that vertical shaft that allow you to adjust fuel
flow to carbs.
Should I set that shaft to the middle hole? I haven't checked fuel pressure
yet, but I also suspect fuel filter (new at rebuild) and fuel pump (rebuilt).
I had the tank cleaned out and fuel lines as well during rebuild. Car has
about 5 miles on it since rebuild.
Any ideas what it might be? It also kind of acts like a vapor lock, but car
only does it's act on hills, not in town, level roads.
Please help as the weather is getting nicer where I live, it's supposed to be
75 today!!
