Hello All,

It's been a while since I have shared any progress reports about my 67.5
2000 restoration with the list and although some of it has to do with
adversity, for the most part it is because it is Summer and I have been
pursuing other interests. In fact, this time tomorrow I will be cheering on
the Angels as they play the Oakland A's.

OK, so what is happening? Well, for the most part the electrical and braking
system are complete as is the dash and dashpad. Since Ross had so much work
done to the body, he is taking extra time to make sure the panels line up
and that the lines are totally straight. Remember that so much work went
into the rear fenders, trunk floor and rear panels. It's going to take some
work to make sure there are no gaps or problems. The windshield frame has
been fitted and all the door hardware is installed and complete. The inside
of the front fenders have been painted and soon they will have their final
home and be attached to the body. Then they can finally get their
long-awaited paint.

I had a problem with my wheel selection as I had orginally wanted American
racing Libre wheels for the car as I liked their retro look. Well, when I
boought them, I was stupid and did not closely inspect them and it turns out
that one was a bastard and had a different offset than the others making the
wheel stick out 1.5" farther than the others. I looked for a while to find a
matching fourth wheel, but it was my fault for not checking the wheels
anyway, so I said screw it and bought 15" panasports. It's a very nice
wheel.

It turns out that a list member purchased my 64 1500, so very soon I will be
roadsterless until my 67.5 2000 is complete. As far as the completion date
is concerned, it has been moved back to mid October. This is not really
Ross's fault folks as sometimes you cannot predict the chances of outrageous
fortune. Restoring our cars is not for those who want instant gratification.
Any restorer will tell you that.

Still, it should be at Turfside and I will only have had the car two weeks
when the show happens. It should be fresh from Ross's shop. BTW, the guy who
is buying my 64 1500 is putting his other roadster in for restoration. I did
the same thing 3 years ago. It's strange how things work out sometimes. In
respect for his privacy, I will leave it up to him to identify himself (or
not). He is on the list and I am glad my 64 1500 is going to go to a good
home.

So stay tuned folks, the car is being put back together right now. It should
be on road trials by September and in my hands by Mid October. It's getting
done!

See you on the road soon!
