Tom,
I took out the sheet metal triangle just to the rear of where you have the
starter hanging out. I drilled out the spot welds and then put it back in
after the starter work was done, with sheet metal screws. The triangle is
a splash guard and is not a structural part.
I have hearsd of others loosening up the body mounting bolts on that side
of the car and lifting the body a bit.
