Mark Degroff here in Northridge can fix this gear for you. He does a good job

Sounds like the 5th gear neutral problem. There should be a FAQ on
this, as it is one of the major components that fails in our roadsters.
The 5th gear is pressed together. The gear fails when the two parts
separate. 2 fixes are: getting a new splined 5th gear or having the
gear welded. 

I've gone with the 1st option.
