Aren't these cars stiff enough? You'll kill the handling and ride of the car. I say get stiffer shocks, preferably adjustable Konis, which should reduce your travel to some extent and tighten up the suspension. You can always use 66/67 springs which are stiffer but not competition stiff. Going around any bumpy corners will cause skipping and hopping and the tar strips will feel like mountains.
