That was me!
I 've been carpooling to work lately, but since the wife needed to work
overtime, I've been commuting in my roadster the last couple of days. I work
right across from costco.
I just ran out of gas on the freeway this morning for the first time at the
La Paz exit.
Too bad I was in the fast lane when it happened. The traffic was light
enough to allow me to get over to the shoulder before I rolled to a stop,
just at the offramp. Popped open the hood, looked at the clear fuel filter
and sure enough, she was empty. A quick jog to the gas station and $12 later
I was back on the road. It took quite a few cranks of the starter before she
fired up again. The last time she hinted that gas was low the car lost
power when cornering. This time, it just shut off completely w/o warning.
I swear that the gas gauge is logrithmic. It drops from a full tank to half
within the first 50 miles, then hovers around empty from half tank. It does
show almost full at fill up though. I have gotten 280 miles to the tank
before so I decided to use that as a gauge, unfortunately I ran out at the
200 mark this time. What kind of gas mileage is everyone else getting?
