Hey Tom; if you're talking about the 2-axle car transporter trailer from
U-Haul, they are really nice and safe and I towed my car from Wisconsin to BC
(Sports Imports) last summer and then dropped off the trailer, drove down to
LA,
rented another one, bought a car and then towed it back home to WI...(all over
about 11 days driving!) They are rock-solid trailers and never a wobble or
anything......but they weigh an absolute ton! Mileage jumped from 12 to 16 as
soon as I dropped off the first trailer and then dropped back down to 12 the
minute I picked up the second one. Didn't matter if the trailer was empty or
full, they take a lot to pull.
Make sure you've got a strong tow vehicle! Or be prepared to be 'way slow!
And I wouldn't probably recommend a bumper hitch if you've got a long ways to
go. A Class II or better would be a better idea, I think.
I did find that I needed a couple of planks to load up or unload the cars;
the ramp/flatbed junction is too sharp for the low Roadsters. But a couple of
2xwhatever on the ramp lifted the car up high enough to clear everything.
