All,

Did some troubleshooting in the garage tonight and believe I solved the
mystery. Ronnie Day was right, the car was running on battery after the AMP
gauge read low.

I thought the alternator was suspect, so I went to take it out of the car. I
have a single wire GM alternator conversion. It has a a plastic connector
that hooks the hot wire to the post and a white wire that I am assuming is
ground that travels back into the wiring harness.

So I unplug the connector and the hot wire falls right out of the connector.
It is broken off. It does not look melted. No juice to the post means no
voltage. It doesn't look too hard to repair, but the alternator is still
suspect. Can the alternator be tested out of the car? I want to see if it is
OK before I hook everything back up.

I am also looking for the voltage regulator. Is is wired right in front of
the fuse box? Not being the most technical of people I am looking for a
little help here.

Thanks for the help,

Andrew Murphy
