Hello, I had the N-17's and now I'm running the RA needles and really 
like them. They work really  good with the B cam, 2 1/4 in exhuast, and 
the MSD setup I have.
     If your car is flattening out  at 3K rpm I would be looking for  
another problem that would cause it other than the needles. My car 
really come on a 3,000 rpm and has plenty of power up to 7,000 rpm. 
Maybe they need syncronized or your timing is off...
