Most of these carbs are mismatched already and I have yet to see that much of a difference between different piston/dome combinations that would cause sputtering or backfiring and I've inspected and played with a lot of carbs over the years. If the domes aren't installed correctly they may bind the pistons and the piston never rises. Before tightening the dome I always make sure the piston moves smoothly. I still believe it's a vacuum leak given the description in the post. Mike |
