in recollection, I believe Paul Stowe ordered the car and drove it for a
while as a dealer demo. this was unusual, as he drove a Ferrari for a while
348GTB or something like that, then traded it for a 930 Turbo... which he
wrecked badly... and then probably drove the Datsun for a week or two before
they sold it. pretty car, had headlight covers and the paint graphics as
seen in the photos. Paul used to own a VW dealership out near Norwich, NY-
only person I ever heard of having a dealership yanked out from under them
for "dealing in bad faith with their customers"
Bob Jackson, nicknamed "BJ" (don't ask) was his 2nd in command. I was in the
Black Oak Tavern in Oneonta one evening and he was bragging about all the
Indy Pace car silver anniversary corvettes he'd been buying and reselling
for astronomical profits. he then turned to the woman I was sitting with,
reached out and lifted her arm and looked at her chest and announced loudly
"I'M GONNA HIRE ME A GIRL WITH BIG TITS TO SELL CARS FOR ME". I think he
ended up hiring a girl named Barbara and was paying her on the side to do
other stuff. not implying anything, I know she got paid to transport cars
for him. hopefully not more than you wanted to know.
