Just got my invitation to this years MidOhio Vintage Grand Prix. It used
to always be in July but this year it is August 18-20. Would be great to
see some more dimes and roadsters at this years event.
If you have never been to MidOhio before, it is one of the best spectators
race tracks east of the Mississippi (And only because I've never been to one
west of the Mississippi!). And it provides a very challenging track for the
drivers. The show field normally attracts a minimum of 500 cars. Be
advised that Saturday is British Car Showdown with MGs as the feature
Marque. So on Sunday, watch your step. Those Brits like to mark their
territory! There is special club ticket pricing (Just tell them you are
with the Ohio Z club and take the discount!). The Concurs on Sunday
normally includes a commemorative glass and a couple of parade laps on the
track. Depending on how many cars show up, who you get stuck behind, and
just how well your car runs, the "parade laps" can get up to 100 mph in
spots so make sure you tighten the seat belts!
