cleaning primer

Hi all,
Can someone help me out on the proper cleaning procedure after final sanding
on
primer?
I went to the local experts and they sold me a can of Wax Remover/Degreaser.
They told me to use this and then use a tack cloth before painting.

Great.  Now I look at the instructions on the can and it says "do not apply on
freshly painted surfaces or on top of primer".

Does anyone know the proper method?
