Timing - 68 2000 Solex

Looks like my engine does not have the timing piece that should be mounted 
on the engine.  I only have the harmonic balancer with its markings.  Is 
there some way to set timing without having both sets of marks?  May be a 
dumb question but  I need to know.  Larry.
